Wanda Dudack Obituary

Wanda Ann (Hipp) Dudack, 86, of Windsor, beloved wife to the late Ignatz "George" Dudack, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 25, 2022. Wanda was born in Warsaw, Poland, daughter to Ferdinand and Feliska (Lasak) Hipp. Wanda was born into Nazi-occupied Poland where she and her family were eventually transported to Essen, Germany as labor, then to later live there post-war, before deciding to immigrate to the United States. Wanda then fell in "love at first sight," meeting her husband George of 57 years in Hartford. Wanda loved taking her five children single-handedly to the beach, fishing with her husband and sons and showing off her gardens at her home on "The Hill". Wanda was a funny and artistic soul that loved to sing and dance around the house with her kids. Wanda was the embodiment of a "warrior," overcoming numerous health issues including surviving an aortic aneurysm and heart surgery in her late sixties only to get behind the wheel again not long thereafter. Late in her life, Wanda and her son John enjoyed their time together for John was the de-facto caretaker for Wanda for many, many years. John's siblings cannot thank him enough. Wanda will be missed by many, but mostly by her children. Wanda is survived by her five children, George Dudack of Windsor, Peter Dudack of Windsor, John Dudack of Windsor, Dorothy Dudack and her partner Bill Curley of Windsor and Paul Dudack of Baltimore, MD; two grandchildren, Stephanie Iannucci and her husband Anthony, and Danielle Velazquez; three great-grandchildren, Serena, Jacob and Madison as well numerous nieces, nephews and extended family in Poland. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers, Richard Hipp and Ferdinand Hipp, Jr. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Ave, Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. at St. Damien of Molokai Parish – St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St., Windsor. Burial will follow in the Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Wanda's family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. Muzibul Chowdhury as well as the nurses and staff with Athena Home Health and Hospice for the care and support over the last several months.
