William L. Cotter, 72, longtime resident of Connecticut, former owner of The Yellow Cab Company and The Cotter Limousine Company of Hartford, as well as The Metro Taxi of Denver, Colorado, died February 5th in Nevada, where he was presently living. Mr. Cotter's parents and grandparents were the longtime successful owners of the Hartford Yellow Cab Company. Mr. Cotter continued the family ownership of the cab company and went on to operate The Metro Taxi of Denver, Colorado, one of the most environmentally aware cab companies in the United States. Mr. Cotter had retired to Henderson, Nevada several years ago after undergoing a successful heart transplant in Denver. Mr. Cotter is survived by his two adored children, Courtney F. Christopher and Courtney, so sorry for your loss! Bill was a kind, sincere and wonderful person I had the chance to work for in Washington, DC and Hartford. I will cherish the years I spent with him (and watching you two as children) and was so happy that he was retired from the transportation business after all those years, enjoying golf and his days in Vegas.

Chris and Courtney,
I cannot begin to tell you of my sadness and surprise when I heard of your father's passing. I met him as a patient but grew to love him as a wise consellor on life. He gave me much more advise and wisdom than I gave to him We both were Hoya's and shared many happy times talking of our families- especially hearing of you both and your achievements. I hope you will reach out if I can ever help you in any way.
Best regards,
Theresa Heyborne

Dear
Courtney and Christopher, I am so sorry for your loss. Billy was almost like a brother to Jack, my late husband. I have great memories of times with him. He had a wonderful attitude about life.

Courtney and Chris, please know you are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Your Dad was a great friend, golfing buddy and (we're sure) father. Spoke with him just before Christmas and all was right with his world, so the news came as a real shock. Too many great memories to list here. So hopefully we'll see you at a celebration of his life and share a Dewars with you. Our love, Lea and Colley Court
