William Crosson Obituary

William S. "Bill" Crosson, 82, lifelong resident of Windsor, beloved husband to Alberta J. (DiSturco) Crosson, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at his home. Bill was born in Hartford, CT on August 11, 1940, one of two children to the late Henry W. Crosson and Mary E. (Fitzmaurice). Bill grew up in Windsor, attended local schools and was a graduate of Windsor High School, Class of 1958. After graduation, Bill enrolled in the University of Hartford, where he received his associates degree in electrical engineering. In June of 1962, he joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in May of 1964. Upon returning home from his service, Bill was employed with SNET for 30 years before his retirement in 1994. He was very involved within his community. He was a past member of the Windsor Volunteer Fire Dept., a 21-year member and the acting Commander of Gray-Dickinson Post 0059 American Legion in Windsor, a lifelong member and past president of the Windsor Marksmen Association, a member of the Windsor Motorcycle Club, a member of Friends of Northwest Park as well as an usher, lector, alter server and communicant of St. Damien of Molokai Parish- St. Gabriel Church in Windsor. He also volunteered his time throughout the years assisting with the Memorial Day and Veteran's Day parades and Wreaths Across America for the Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery during the holidays. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed tending to his vegetable and flower gardens as well as spending time on the water boating and fishing. In addition to his wife Alberta, Bill is survived by his sister-in-law Noreen Crosson of Windsor; his two nieces, Suzanne Crosson and Marylynn Crosson-Stewart; his dog Barney, as well as other extended family and many friends within the Windsor community. Bill was predeceased by his parents Henry and Mary, his brother Garry V. Crosson and five beagles, Christopher, Rocket, Fritz, Thumper and Duke. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022, from 4-7 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home on Friday, September 2, beginning at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Damien of Molokai Parish-St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St., Windsor. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windsor. Memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Damien of Molokai Parish-St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St., Windsor, CT 06095 or to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111.
