William PARKER Obituary

PARKER, William "Skip"
William C. "Skip" Parker left his physical body to join his mother and father, William G. and Paulette Johnson Parker, and his twin brothers, Wayne and Curtis Parker, on May 26, 2013 at his home surrounded by family and friends after a short illness. Skip was born in Hartford on Oct. 29, 1955 and grew up in Simsbury. He graduated from Rider University and moved back to his hometown. In February of 1993, he became a friend of Bill W's and moved to Middletown where he was employed first by Taco Bell for several years and in 1998 he became a shift monitor for The Connection, Inc. and upon earning his CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) he was promoted to a Case Manager III. Skip was an active member of The First Baptist Church in Southington where he served as an usher. During all of his life he was a stalwart Mets fan, never wavering and always faithful. During Skip's twenty years with Bill W, he touched many lives believing in people when they could not believe in themselves. His presence and exemplary program will be missed. Skip leaves his wife and soul mate, Sharon Kupiec of Middletown; two stepdaughters, Janice Kupiec and her husband, Todd Cohn of Alexandria, VA, Seap Pen and her husband, Him Pen of Chicopee, MA, and the two great joys of his life granddaughters, Sara Pen and Addison Cohn. Additionally, he leaves several very special friends, Zita Duffy of Simsbury, Natalie of Hartford, Sid of Cromwell, Paul of Elmwood, Ed of West Hartford, and Barry of Higganum.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 1 with a committal service at 10 a.m. in Simsbury Cemetery, 16 Plank Hill Rd, Simsbury and a celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. at The First Baptist Church, 581 Meriden Ave., Southington. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations in Skip's memory to the No Kill Shelter @ Meriden Humane Society, 311 Murdock Ave., Meriden, CT 06450. Doolittle Funeral Home, Middletown is handling the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.

I would like to say that I am sincerely sorry to hear about the passing of Skip. He was a good guy and had a big heart.

Skip and I worked together in the kitchen of the Chapter XI restaurant in Simsbury (I was in high school at the time) in 1979-1980. My cousin's husband was one of the two owners of the establishment. Skip was a good worker and very easy going. I remember he lent me several of his albums to listen to because I had never heard these groups before and I wanted to hear their music.

My older brother was also acquainted with Skip since they went to SHS together and graduated the same year. My brother always spoke highly of Skip and respected the intelligence that Skip possessed.

We'll remember him...
