William Wilcox Obituary



Rev. William P. Wilcox Sr., 65, of Vernon, beloved husband of Deborah (Chase) Wilcox, died peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Rockville Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 2, 1949 in Caribou, ME, son of the late William B. and Violet (Tracy) Wilcox. William grew up in Hartford. He owned and operated Wilcox Roofing & Sheet Metal for many years with his brother. He spent many years ministering to others at the Word of Life Tabernacle in Wolcott and Sufficient Grace Church in Ellington. William loved animals and spent many years showing horses and dogs. He had a passion for building Mopar race cars and enjoyed street racing. A kind, caring and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend he will be greatly missed. Along with his wife, Deborah of over 29 years, he leaves his children, Michael Wilcox and his wife Lisa of FL, Debra M. Wilson of Tolland and William P. Wilcox Jr. and his wife Angela of Vernon; a brother, Dick Wilcox and his wife Sue of FL; a sister, Mary St. Jean and her husband Roger of E. Hartford; and six grandchildren, Alyssa, Rod Jr., Aaron, Taylor, Anna, Emma. He was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014, 11 a.m., at the Ladd Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rt. 83) Vernon. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. His family will receive friends on Thursday, November 13, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
