Visitation at the church at 12:30 p.m. will precede the service. Interment will follow at Roseland Park Cemetery in Hattiesburg. Services are under the direction of Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home.

A longtime resident of Hattiesburg, who contributed greatly to the city's life and was active in a broad range of its civic, charitable and cultural institutions, Mr. Landry was born in Mobile, AL, on July 14, 1946. He graduated from Hattiesburg High School in 1964, studied at Auburn University and, in 1970, was awarded a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from University of Southern Mississippi. He joined the firm of Landry and Landry Architects, eventually becoming the firm's president (as Landry and Lewis Architects), a position he held until his retirement in 1999. For the next three years, Mr. Landry and his wife toured the United States in a motor home, and they settled in the mountaintop community of Cloudcroft, NM.

A member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Mr. Landry was certified to practice in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Texas by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. He was a past president of the Hattiesburg Rotary Club and a board member of the Hattiesburg Country Club. He also served for many years as president of the City of Hattiesburg Planning Commission, was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers and served on several international committees of the AIA dealing with healthcare.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Mr. Landry was named Hattiesburg's Outstanding Young Man of the Year and one of Mississippi's Outstanding Young Leaders. He was also active in the work of the American Red Cross, Forrest-Lamar United Way, Salvation Army and Heart Fund. He served as a Captain of the Krewe, Hattiesburg Civic Association; and with the Hattiesburg Civic Arts Council and Hattiesburg Civic Light Opera. In Hattiesburg, he was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and, after his retirement to Cloudcroft, a member of the Church of the Epiphany.

Mr. Landry is survived by his wife, Janet Piccinati Landry of Cloudcroft; two sons, Christian (Wife Ashley) Landry of Hattiesburg and Briant Landry of Baton Rouge, LA; his mother, Betty Landry of Hattiesburg; one brother, David (Wife Vicky) Landry of Hattiesburg; three grandsons: Tyler Landry of Kansas City, MO; Michael Landry of Fort Pierce, FL and Wade Landry of Hattiesburg; one nephew, Jason (Wife Mandy) Landry of Hattiesburg; and one niece, Tiffany Landry of Hattiesburg.

Prior to my moving back to Houston in 1984, Mike and I were avid tennis players at the Hattiesburg Country Club. We paired up against Dr. Ben Carmichael and Dr. Bill Brundage, went into overtime, and finally defeated them. I remember how big our trophies were. My was stolen out of my office during the process of packing everything up to move. Mike and I played so much together we got to the point we could tell what the other one was going to do before he did it.
I was sadden when he and Janet both went to be with their Lord.

To the entire family of Michael J. Landry, especially Janet, Chris and Briant.

Sally and I were saddened to hear the news of Mike's death. He was a good friend whom we felt privileged to know. We will always remember the fun times we shared, especially in the Rotary Club of Hattiesburg and the Hattiesburg Civic Light Opera.

Mike's contributions to the community were numerous and noteworthy. This plus his professional skills and significant accomplishments set him high above average. Mike will not be forgotten.

Much love, Garland and Sally Sullivan

Michael lived a full life that is an inspiration to us all. Godspeed Cousin, see you on the other side.

Just to let you know that Mike was always extremely courteous and respectful never forgetting to acknowledge any small thing I did in my work with he and Landry thru Mac's Construction. He was never conscious of class distinction as it pertains to a position, and he went out of his way
to be a kind, personable professional. This was not expected, and is not the norm in today's world. It is a testament to his parents that both he and David are such kind, generous men. It was a pleasure to work with and know him. Thank you, Mike.

Janet,

Just wanted you and your family to know that I'm thinking of you at this time and am keeping you in my prayers.

I will always cherish the great moments Mike and I had together, both "on and off" the tennis court, etc.

No one can ever take that away.

Bodie
