Vida Anderson Obituary
Purvis, MS - Vida Rae Anderson (Dickson), 95, peacefully joined our Heavenly Father on November 4, 2018 following a short stay at Asbury Hospice in Hattiesburg, MS. Visitation will be held at 12:30 P.M. Wednesday at the Hulett-Winstead Purvis Chapel, with service time at 2:00 P.M.
She was born on April 6, 1923 in Poplarville, MS to Lee and Ada Mae Smith Dickson, both of who preceded her in death.
Vida was one of ten siblings born to Lee and Ada Mae. She attended Purvis High School where she graduated as Salutatorian and went on to obtain her LPN license from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. She was a charter member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Purvis, MS. She loved gardening and loved to "dig in the dirt."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her fist husband, William Edward Hartfield; her second husband, William Everett Anderson; her son, Charles Frederick Hartfield; her granddaughter, Marsha Ann Hartfield as well as five brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include her son, Ray Edward Hartfield (Sharon) of Columbia, MS; her daughter, June Elizabeth Crosby of Purvis, MS; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

I will dearly miss my Grandma's spunkiness, humor, and sheer joy of life. Her great-grandson Allen, my son, is like her in so many ways. Especially when it comes to books. Like her, he is a voracious reader, and is regularly reading more than on book at time. It was always a joy for me to see them together, and it warmed my heart each time my son would say Great-Grandma is pretty cool. We miss her greatly.
