Bonnie Perlingos

1949 - 2022

Bonnie Linda Perlingos (Garcia) was born on Feb. 21, 1949 in Roswell, New Mexico where she was raised by her mother Carlota Tafoya Garcia and her grandfather Manual Tafoya.
Bonnie is survived by her husband Lawrence Perlingos, her daughters Carla, Elaine, and Cathy, her grandchildren Randall, Caleb, Steven, Alphonso Ray, Alyson, Cameron, Destanie, Joey, Nicholas, Shaelyn, and great-grandchildren Cassius, Camden, Cieden, Carson, and Roux. Bonnie was a warm and caring woman. She lived for her daughters and grandkids and loved each and every one of them with more love than anyone could give.
Bonnie graduated from Godard High School and went to work for Levi Strauss where she would meet the love of her life, Lawrence. Bonnie and Larry decided to move to San Francisco, where they continued their employment with Levi Strauss, eventually moving to Montebello, California where they would start building a family. Bonnie was blessed to be able to witness all three of her daughters get married. A few years after Elaine was married, she asked "when are you going to have a baby?" Well, be careful what you ask for… Bonnie was blessed with three grandchildren in one year. She welcomed Steven, Alphonso Ray and Alyson into the world. The tribe continued and she couldn't be more excited with each announcement of another grandchild.
Bonnie was the picture-perfect wife, mother, nina, and grandmother. Our friends would often say "your mom is like a real mom. you know, baking and always welcoming us in". There was never a time where she would turn you away. Her home was a refuge to friends, ex-boyfriends, family, stray animals. It was even a refuge to our dried-up plants. She had a green thumb and managed to always bring our dead plants back to life. Bonnie was a comforter. She had a way of making you feel like everything was going to work out exactly how it should be.
Bonnie will be missed. Her gentle spirit is now at rest from this world. She is home. This is not goodbye, mom…this is, we'll see you soon.
