Jerry Nathan Cornell

1935 - 2021

Jerry Nathan Cornell, of Lake Havasu City, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021. Jerry was born July 21, 1935 to James and Doris Cornell. After graduating from Washington Island High School, Jerry moved to Downey, California where he was employed at GTE Telephone. After serving two years in the army, in July 1960, Jerry met and married his wife Nora Smith. He retired from GTE in 1973 and started a locksmith service before moving to Roseburg, Oregon in 1985.
Jerry married Carolyn Jessen in December 1997. They moved to Lake Havasu City in 2018. He was a member of the Eagles, Elks and Moose Lodge. Jerry enjoyed fishing, traveling, wood working, wood carving, boating, fishing, traveling in the motor home, spending time with friends and gardening. Jerry became a Master Gardener after moving to Lake Havasu.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents James and Doris Cornell; his Wife Nora; Stepson Michael Smith; Stepson Thomas Jessen Jr.; and Stepdaughter Jane Young.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Carolyn Cornell; stepdaughter Susan Schlegel; three step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren; brother Jack Cornell; Nephews Jeff Cornell and Robert Cornell and Niece Lisa McDougal.
Arrangements were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
