Philip Seltzer Obituary

"Fishin' Phil" left us peacefully on August 26, 2021, after a long battle with Parkinson's. The lake fish held their own vigil already. That's the kind of love and respect he had.
Phil was born on October 23, 1945, in Rockaway Beach, Queens, New York. Having lost his mother to cancer when he was 13, the skinny, Jewish kid moved to Hollywood with his Dad, a Vaudeville comedian. He settled in Burbank and was working at a gas station when Kathy, the love of his life, rolled in for some gas in a beat-up '59 Chevy Impala. She had three small boys and a funny accent and he was smitten. Almost overnight, he went from single guy to family man with a wife and three kids. They got married a few months later. His wedding band NEVER came off his finger for the next 51 years.
Phil was the kind of man that didn't have an enemy in the world. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. He made you feel like you were the center of the universe when he enthusiastically greeted you and gave you all of his attention. That was also the kind of father he was to his three newly adopted boys.
Phil worked in the record industry for many years and then tried his hand in retail managing a Kits Cameras at the mall and developing a passion for photography that would last the rest of his life. His other great love was fishing. He moved to Lake Havasu City in 1993 and worked at Walmart for the next 13 years until he retired. He was a whiz with computers, so after he retired, he started a small home computer repair service until the technology outpaced him.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Louis, and his sister Judith. He is survived by: his loving wife, Kathy; son Randy Beetz (Gina) of New Jersey; son James (Sandy) of Lake Havasu City; adopted sons Michael (Yvonne), John and George (Angie), also all of Lake Havasu City; and step-daughter Pamela Roberts.
