Jeffrey Raggio Obituary

Jeffrey Taylor Raggio. If life is measured by how much you love and are loved, Jeff Raggio's all too short life was rich indeed. He had a kind heart and a quick wit, was a prolific reader with an encyclopedic memory and was a fabulous cook who loved to entertain friends and family. He was proud to have joined his family law firm in 2011 to carry on the legacy begun by his grandparents Grier and Louise Raggio in 1956. Jeff, beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend was born on March 6, 1985 and died on May 3, 2014 in a tragic 4-wheeler accident. He was a graduate of Highland Park High School (2003) where he played varsity soccer and participated in the Academic Decathlon. After graduation from Goucher College near Baltimore in 2007 with a BA degree in political science, he attended SMU Law School, graduating in 2011. He then joined the Raggio Family Law firm as an associate, working alongside his father and uncles. Jeff served as the 2013 Co-Vice-Chair and 2014 Co-Chair of Legalline, a public service program of the Dallas Bar Assoc., offering free legal advice to the public twice a month. He had a true passion for this program and was very committed to its success. He was also active on the Dallas Bar's Admission & Membership, Legal Ethics and Community Involvement Committees. Jeff is survived by his parents, Ken and Patty Raggio and brother Captain Michael Raggio, USAF, girlfriend Emily Sterry, aunts, uncles and cousins, numerous friends, and professional collegues. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday May 8th at 2 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church of Dallas, 4015 Normandy, Dallas 75205 and there will be a reception afterwards. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Legalline (Dallas Bar Assoc. Community Service Fund, 2101 Ross Avenue, Dallas, TX 75201) or the charity of your choice.

I sat by Jeff in a class in law school. He touched my heart when he offered to help me with the outline. I will never forget him. I am so shocked and saddened by his death. I just learned today about his passing and wish I had known earlier. I would have come to the service to honor him and his family. God bless you all.

Oh Patty and all, I'm so so sorry to hear about this. I love you and hurt for you in this huge loss. I passed the news on to Karen (Green) Warren. I wish I had known in time to come to the service but I only learned of this tonight. What a great son you raised and it looks like he was able to leave a legacy in a short time! Remember all the great times.

My heart goes out to your family and loved ones at this time. For you were a wonderful man and person. A true friend. Will never forget Halloween and u dressed as slash from guns n roses. Probably best costume ever. You were always such a doll to me and always stopped and said hi to me even if I didn't see you at first. For you are gone way to soon. Heaven got a very special angel in you the other day. Rest in peace my dear friend. Forever missed but never forgotten

My heart goes out to you during this incredibly difficult time.

Jeff was such an impressive young man. He was intelligent and had a great sense of humor while demonstrating compassionate and genuine concern. He was not only a great attorney but a great person.

I have been praying and will continue to pray for you and your family.

I first met Jeff in fifth grade and enjoyed every chance I got to see him since then. He was so friendly and so funny. He made everyone feel welcome and important. I wish I could have been there today to celebrate his great life that was cut far too short. I will truly miss seeing him around, and my deepest sympathies are with the Raggio family, and all of Jeff's close friends and family. He will be missed for years and years to come.
