JOHN BERRY Obituary

John M. Berry Jr., age 81, of Turners Station passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016. John practiced law in New Castle for over 50 years. He was a farmer, member of the New Castle Lions Club, State Legislator for two terms, President of the Kentucky Burley Association and was on the Board of Directors of the United Citizens Bank & Trust for many years. He was a member of Family Worship Center, Carrollton. He was the son of the late John M. and Virginia (Perry) Berry, Sr. and was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Jackson Berry.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Mullins) Berry of Turners Station; one daughter, Markie Jo Holmes (Matt) of St. Louis, Mo.; three sons, John M. Berry, III of Frankfort,Joel H. Berry (Maria) of Turners Station and William O. Berry of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Karey L. Berry of La Grange; two sisters, Mary Jo Berry of Turners Station and Markie Baxter (Don) of Louisville; one brother, Wendell Berry (Tanya) of Port Royal; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2016, at Family Worship Center, Carrollton, officiated by Pastor Pat Butcher of Family Worship Center and Dr. Corky Klingenfus of Southeast Christian. Interment was in Port Royal Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Ronald Rose, George Mason, James Highfield, Ben Coomes, Russell Louden, James M. Crawford, Kent Floyd, Les Houston, Midge Cox, Judge Stan Billingsly, Robert Miller, Representative Jim Wayne, Judge Phillip Shepherd, Senator John Lackey, Steve Taylor and Senator Joe Wright.
Active pallbearers were Tony Chisholm, Guy Prewitt, Evan Harrod, Jesse Drury, Larry Taylor and Dr. Steve White.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Family Worship Center, 2520 KY-227, Carrollton, Ky. 41008; Salvation Army, 911 S. Brook St., Louisville, Ky. 40203 or Hosparus, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Dr., Louisville, KY 40205.
Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Such wonderful memories of John and his family over many years!! John had that infectious laugh that won't be forgotten. I can see him now..stretched out in a chair, feet propped up with guitar in hand singing "Green Green Grass of Home" and "Crawdad Hole"!!! What a wonderful man and family to have known my lifetime
