Patrick Duncan Obituary

A proud South Dakotan, Patrick Mills Duncan passed away in Conroe on January 23, 2022, just short of his 85th birthday. Siblings John and Janice predeceased him as well as his son Patrick. He is survived by his brother Dennis Duncan of Las Cruces, N.M., his daughter Denise Donovan and husband John, his grandchildren John, Sean Patrick, Ian, and Eoin Donovan; his wife Shirley Paolini Duncan and stepchildren Laura, Angela, Marco and Kenneth Paolini.

Patrick was born in Watertown and lived in Yankton growing up. At the University of South Dakota, he studied Civil Engineering and afterward worked in the space industry in San Diego. He joined the Army and in Washington D.C., was assigned to police duty with the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon.

After, he entered the field of computer science and became a Manager for WANG and other companies. Relocating in Texas, he worked for Memorial Hermann Hospital The Woodlands and the Memorial Hermann system in Houston as Materials Manager Director and Corporate Buyer.

An avid fisherman, outdoorsman and animal lover. He was happiest while fishing offshore in Galveston Bay or hunting with his father John in South Dakota. His family appreciated his sense of humor, his fondness of music, and great love for the sea. His kindhearted spirit and humor will be profoundly missed.

I worked with Pat at Wang. We were best of friends. He and I enjoyed many pleasant times both at work and leisure. We made at least 2 trips to Mexico for short vacation trips. Funny thing was we decided if we're going to Mexico, then it would be good to lean to speak some Spanish. So we went to an adult evening class. I must admit the only Spanish we used while in Mexico was "Dos Margaritas por favor." LOL

I moved to Dallas and only some to Pat a couple of times after that. I have nothing but fond memories of Pat, and think of him often.
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
