Alfred Henry Wipperman

MISSOULA - Alfred Henry Wipperman, 87, of Missoula, MT passed away on May 22, 2022.
Alfred "Al" was born in Conrad, MT, on July 21, 1934, to Laurent and Louisa Wipperman and grew up on the family farm north of Conrad. Al graduated from Conrad High School in 1952. He served two years in the United States Army. Then, after earning his Bachelor of Science and Masters Degrees in Fish and Wildlife Management from Montana State University, he started his career with Montana Fish and Game Department as a fisheries biologist. He worked for the department for over 35-years in locations including, Dillon, Helena, Townsend, and Great Falls.
In 1957, he married Evelyn Bowman. Two beautiful children were placed lovingly in their arms. Al and Evelyn divorced in 1977.
In 1978, Al met and married Irma Blake. They enjoyed many wonderful years together with their blended family. Al and Irma enjoyed bowling, playing golf, and gambling. They retired in Las Vegas, NV, in 1998. Irma preceded Al in death in 2013. Al later moved back to his home state of Montana in 2018.
Al loved the great outdoors. Some of his fondest memories were spent each year at hunting camp with his cousins, his son, son-in-law, and grandsons. He was also an excellent fisherman and active conservationist.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Laurent and Louisa Wipperman; siblings: Carl Wipperman, Mahlon Wipperman, Laura Duncan, and Gloria Staples; wife Irma Wipperman; and son, Lesley Wipperman.
He is survived by Melanie (Wipperman) Griffith and husband Patrick of Missoula, MT; stepchildren: Jody Rocks, Scott Blake, and Randall Blake; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Dad, we will miss your endless stories and jokes. Rest in peace. Please, join us for an informal celebration of Al's life at Lion's Park in Missoula on June 25, from 12:00 - 4:00.
Donations may be made in Al's memory to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Sweet cousin Melanie and family,
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your dad, it´s never easy to lose a cherished parent, but having had them in our lives and remembering those special moments spent with them help with the loss. Dad´s are special to us little girls, he will always be wrapped around your little finger and forever in your heart. Melanie, know you are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
