Deloris Kershaw Obituary

Deloris I. Kershaw

Deloris I. Kershaw received her angel wings Oct. 2 and is now celebrating her first days with Christ.

Deloris was born Jan. 24, 1935, in Butte. She attended school in Butte and Helena, graduating from Helena Senior High School in 1953.

Deloris worked as a bookkeeper for Columbia Paint, Suds Hut, Hoff's Exxon, Helena Motor Repair, Morrison-Maierle, the Catholic Diocese, Martins IGA, the Montana State Chamber of Commerce, and Notre Dame in Manchester, N.H. The position that meant the most to Deloris was the administrative secretary for the Farm in the Dell Foundation International, she was very gifted and talented in her work. Her biggest gift in her work was her love to the developmentally disabled children around the world. Her biggest love in her work was to make the Farm in the Dell home in Kyrgyzstan a reality. Deloris was a devoted member of First Christian Church where she held several positions throughout her life. She was devoted to and dearly loved her Lord and Savior Christ Jesus; she cherished her time in church and reading scripture.

She married Kenneth Hanna Sr. in 1953; they had one son. She married Henry (Purington) Bushnell in 1955; they had five sons and one daughter. In March 1976, she married the love of her life, Melvyn Kershaw. We as a family were, and continue to be, very blessed by this union. Mel has always been there for her, and loved and been devoted to her and to the entire family. Mel and Deloris resided in Helena for the majority of their life together. Deloris was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mom-away-from-mom to her stepchildren. Her life was filled with the many activities of her grandchildren; she was their No. 1 teacher and No. 1 cheerleader.

Deloris is survived by her husband of 32 years, Melvyn Kershaw; her children, Wayne and Debbie Bushnell, their six children and six grandchildren; Ken Hanna and Nancy Camp, their six children and four grandchildren; Brent and Tamara Bushnell, their six children and three grandchildren; Spencer and Kathy Bushnell and their daughter; Jim and Stena Bushnell, their seven children and nine grandchildren; Mark and Irene Bushnell, their three children and three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; Shanna and Bill Semmens, their four children and two grandchildren; Matt and Teresa Bushnell and their three children; Bruce and Holly Kershaw and their son; Larry and Ivette Kershaw, their three children and one grandchild; and Barb Foster (Kershaw) and Steve and their four children. Deloris is also survived by her sisters, Red (Grant) Delude and Val (Sonny) Pembroke, and many nieces and nephews and beloved friends.

Deloris had a one-of-a-kind and amazing sense of humor and used it daily. She was blessed with many friends whom she cherished and enjoyed spending time with. Her friends were not just friends, they were family. She was an angel among us, she loved everyone unconditionally and without end, no matter how many and no matter how far away. She will be loved, remembered and missed dearly.

Memorial donations can be sent to the Farm in the Dell Foundation International, 1208 Poplar, Helena, MT 59601. A memorial service to celebrate Deloris' life will be held at 11:30 a.m. today, Oct. 5, at First Christian Church in Helena.

There is much sadness in the world, for the angel that everyone has loved is gone.

Dear Mel, Shanna and Matt,
Learning of Deloris's death brings back so many wonderful memories of her life. We worked together for years at the Montana Chamber. She made darling craft projects for my daughter Torhil and could often be counted on for sage advice. My sincerest sympathies to all of you.
