Lolenia Fowler
May 12, 1944 - March 5, 2023
HELENA - On the morning of Sunday, March 5, 2023, Lolenia (Lou), age 78, passed away from a disease called Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) and was taken by God to go to heaven. When she left, she was surrounded by her daughter, son-in-law, three grandchildren, great-grandchild and one of her best friends.
Lou was born in the Philippines on May 12, 1944. She was the third child out of seven. She immigrated to the United States in 1984, and was working at Holloman Air Force Base, near Alamogordo, NM.
Lou will be remembered for her love of cooking, spending time with family and friends. She looks forward to Saturday's, when she would go out shopping and eating with one of her best friends Lena.
She loves being a grandma and great-grandma, otherwise known as g-g-ma (great-grandmother), who will be greatly missed by all. She is known as an independent, courageous person, as she didn't complain until the very end. She was living on her own, until diagnosed in the middle of February with ALL.
She possessed a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh. One of her journeys in life led her to New York City, where she was a nanny. She eventually came back to Helena, MT, where she would spend time housekeeping, watching the grandchildren, or recently, Holly and Simba (Carmen's little dogs.)
Lou is survived by her children: Carmen (James) Brusda of Helena; brothers: Salvador Huiden and Albertdo Huiden, both of the Philippines; grandchildren: MaryLou Garcia of Seattle, WA, Heather Sappington of Boulder, MT, Heath (Sarah) Sappington of Seattle, WA; great-grandchildren: Eliana Garcia, Jaylee Garcia, Leon Shane, Nattlie Cragen, Sammantha Cragen, Abigail Gragen, Gideon Cragen and Madelyn Cragen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Visitacion and Justiniano Huiden; brothers: Antonio Huiden and Eduardo Huiden, Justiniano Huiden Jr.; and sister, Maria Leny Capulong.
As she has now departed and has been cremated, some of her ashes will travel back to the Philippines to be spread in the ocean near where she grew up, and the other part will be buried next to her parents in the Philippines.
A private viewing for family members and close friends was held earlier this week to pay our last respects and give closer to a person we all dearly loved.
Lou's family would like to thank the emergency room staff, the oncology floor staff and Carmen's co-workers at St. Peter's Hospital who took such good care of Lou in her last few weeks, along with her friends who made Lou apart of their life in the last few years and all of her Filipino family and friends in the Philippines.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave. A reception will follow the service in the social hall of the funeral home.

Loved Lou Lou. She loved our dogs. We had her cook for us and whenever we needed something good to take to a fundraiser, potluck, party or celebration of any sort. It got so folks wanted to see us just so they could eat her food. We were lucky enough to get invited to her big Filipino gatherings where food was one focal point. We shared the same birthday. She was generous and always had a big smile and a good word. We will miss her.
