Mikhail Lewis

Sept. 20, 1981 - Dec. 9, 2023

MISSOULA - Mikhail Lewis, 42, passed away December 9, 2023 in Missoula.

He was born September 20, 1981 in Great Falls, MT. He grew up in Helena and graduated from Helena High School where he played cello in the school orchestra. He was a creative and dedicated musician. He is preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Sather. He is survived by his father, Jim Lewis; two brothers: Joshua, and Guthrie all of Helena; and sister, Cricket of Missoula; also five nephews, and one niece. In addition are several aunts and uncles and numerous cousins.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.

I´m so sorry for your loss. He was an intelligent and kind man with so much to offer the world.
Mikhail and I dated and lived together in Missoula, Billings, and Seattle in the early 2000´s. We spent most of our time together watching Italian horror movies, listening to experimental music, and going to libraries. He loved to read! There was nobody quite like Mikhail and I´m so grateful I got to have him in my life.
I didn´t know that Terry had passed as well, but she and the whole family were always so welcoming and kind to me when we would visit Helena.
Sending my condolences and love to the family for the loss of two great people who enriched my life by knowing them.
Rest in peace

Mikhail was a gentle soul and I´m sorry he is gone so soon. He was my ride-or-die in freshman gym class. Once we waited for him on a downtown street corner while he lingered in the street to pick up brightly colored shards of broken tail lights from a recent traffic brush-up (he told us he had collection of such mementos. He liked that they were pretty and sad). Rest in power, old pal.

Mikhail was a student on our 7th Heaven team at Helena Middle School back in the day. He was a voracious reader, and he walked to school every day while reading. Street crossings were such a nuisance to Mikhail because looking up for traffic interrupted his reading. So he didn´t. He just plowed ahead through the crossing, relying on drivers to see and avoid him. Every day he got to school safely was a win in my book. Having Mikhail in my English class, asking endless questions and bringing that extraordinary intellect to bear on the issues was one of the great pleasures of my middle school teaching experience. Rest in peace.

To the Lewis family,
I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your son. I worked with Terry at RMDC. She always had so many nice things to say about her family. If Mikhail was anything like Terry, he was surely an amazing man. My condolences to all of you.

Jim Josh Guthrie and Cricket,
I am so sorry to learn of Mikhail's passing! Terry meant so much to me during our time at Rocky Mountain together and I remember how fondly she spoke of each and every one of her children. May peace and comfort surround you now and in the days to come. I am sending you love.
