Barbara A. Lee, age 90, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
She was joyfully reunited with the love of her life, Johnny, who preceded her in death earlier this
spring.
Barbara was born on November 14, 1934, in Snowball, Arkansas, to Monroe and Hattie (Marris)
Livingston. As a child, she traveled with her family as sharecroppers, picking cotton alongside
them.
On November 7, 1953, Barbara married Johnny Lee. Together, they made their home in
Okmulgee and later moved to the Wilson area, where they raised their family. Barbara worked
as a cook at Oakdale School, at the soda fountain in Newberry's, in the office at American St.
Gobain, and later at Paul's Western Wear and C.R. Anthony's. However, the job she loved most
-and took most seriously-was running her household. She was known to say that ""the food
was ready, the house was clean, and the laundry was done.""
Barbara loved her family deeply, and her greatest joy was taking care of them. She spent
countless hours sewing, canning, and in her younger years, helping Johnny in the garden-
though in later years, she preferred simply enjoying the fruits of it.
She was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and a talent for playing the piano. A faithful
member of Wilson Baptist Church, Barbara shared her musical gifts with the congregation
singing special songs on occasion.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Lee; daughters Cindy Hoover and Connie
Lee; brothers Denver Livingston, Marris Livingston, and Jack Livingston; sisters Johnnie
Branson, Pebble Calhoun, and Marie Gingrich; and grandsons Keith Henderson and Caleb Lee.
She is survived by her sons John ""David"" Lee Jr. and wife Kimberly, and daughter Cheryl
Henderson and husband Billy; grandchildren Angela Wilson, Amy McCray, Stacy Thompson,
Brandon Lee, Taylor Simmons, and Kyzer Lee; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-
grandchildren.
Barbara's life was a testament to love, faith, and devotion. Her legacy of kindness and care will
live on through her family and all who were blessed to know her.
Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM. Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Wilson Baptist Church
with Pastor Kevin Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Salt Creek Cemetery.
Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral
Home of Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Memories, condolences, photos and videos may be shared with
the family on Barbara's Tribute Page of our website.
