Jared Been Obituary
Jared Daniel Been, 42, resident of Beggs, passed away from this earth to join our Heavenly Father on Sunday, Nov. 7 in Tulsa. He began his journey in this world on Jan. 22, 1979 in Shawnee to John and Jackie (Dickey) Been.
Jared graduated from Dewar High School in 1998. He married Mandy Lanford on June 15, 2002 in Choctaw. To know Jared, was to love Jared. A friend to everyone and an all-around family man that loved his wife and adored his kids, mom, dad, and brothers so fiercely.
Jared had a strong Christian background which shown through in his overwhelming generosity and charitable nature as his fellow congregation members at Nuyaka Baptist Church could attest. As a teenager, he worked at Falls Creek Youth Baptist Camp. He was also a member of the Okmulgee Elks Lodge #1822 and the Henryetta Lions Club. Because of his selflessness and giving nature, he recently received an award for his contribution and was named Henryetta Lions Club - Cub of the Year 2021. Jared was also a Mason at the Henryetta Lodge #201.
He was a member of the Local 112 of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was a radiographer for various pipeline companies for many years. Jared quit pipelining to start the Beens' Workshop woodworking business with his brother Kerry in 2020. That is where he developed a love for the game of cornhole. Through Jared's networking and connections, he quickly became the Regional Director of the Oklahoma Cornhole Association. Throwing cornhole bags rapidly developed into a passion of his. He and Mandy traveled all over Oklahoma and surrounding states to various cornhole competitions.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Merl and Mina Dickey and his paternal grandparents, Carrol and Augusta Been.
Jared is survived by his wife, Mandy of the home; his three children, daughters, Madyson Jacy and Avery Danielle of the home and son, Silas Tucker of the home; his parents, John and Jackie Been of Tiger Mountain; two brothers, Kerry Been and wife Billie Jean of Dewar and Joshua Been and wife Kiersten of Tiger Mountain; brother in-law, Darrell Lanford and wife Michelle of Aledo, Texas; sister in-law, Ginger Standing and husband Cameron of Durango, Colo.; five nieces, Chelsea Been of Oklahoma City, Skye Been of Tahlequah, Anberlin Lanford of Aledo, Texas, Raina Been of Tiger Mountain and Logan Standing of Durango, Colo.; four nephews, Greg Bezzell of Muskogee, Marshall Been of Tiger Mountain, Phoenix Lanford of Aledo, Texas and Orin Standing of Durango, Colo.; his in-laws, Darrell and Nancy Lanford of Durango, Colo.; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and many friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. at the Dewar First Baptist Church with Rev. Jarrod Kendall officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 10 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 11 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Integrity Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Allen Cotner, Brian Bishop, Jason Ray, Dustin Golightly, Aaron Graffman, Jerrod Brown and Jerod Yaerger. Honorary pallbearers will be Marshall Been, Phoenix Lanford, Orin Standing, Greg Bezzell, Derrick Celestine, Bunky Impson, Dionn Brownfield and Kim Brownfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Jared's honor to the Henryetta Lions Club, P.O. Box 1284, Henryetta, OK 74437.
