Michael Champagne Obituary

Michael Henry Champagne passed away on June 29, 2023 alongside his beloved wife Kimberly K. Champagne.

Mike was born on July 5, 1959 in Tulsa, OK. His parents were Katy Darlene and Andre J. Champagne. He grew up in Tulsa and was an accomplished hockey player, spending most of his childhood at the ice rink. After graduating from Memorial High School, he attended Oklahoma State University.

Mike met the love of his life, Kimberly Creech, while playing tennis. They married on July 22, 1989 in Oklahoma City, OK. In 1996, the couple started Champagne Metals together out of their living room and the company recently celebrated its 27th anniversary. Mike's entrepreneurial spirit, honesty and tenacity were integral to the company's success and growth. Anything Mike took time for, he addressed with passion and excelled. In addition to his larger than life personality, Mike's quiet generosity touched the lives of many.

Of all the titles Mike held, his proudest were Dad to his two children and Papa to his four grandchildren. The last several years, he devoted most of his time to his grandchildren. Throughout his life, Mike enjoyed traveling, scuba diving, tennis and golf. He was also an avid outdoorsman, spending countless hours hunting and fishing.

Mike is preceded in death by his mother.

Mike is survived by his children, Brandon Champagne and wife Ashley, Brooke de Cárdenas and husband Christian; four grandchildren, Carter Champagne, Michael de Cárdenas, Owen de Cárdenas and Charlotte Champagne; father Andre J. Champagne; one brother, Andre R. Champagne and wife Charise; one sister, Cindy Champagne Taylor; nieces and nephews, Brittany Barbe, Blaine Taylor, Brigitte McAuliff, Bailey Champagne and Brandee Champagne.

Memorial services will be held at Asbury Church, 6767 S. Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK at 11 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2023. Light reception to follow at the church.

The family wishes for any memorial contributions to be made in Mike and Kim's name to Folds of Honor Foundation, De?partment 1?3, Tu?lsa, O?K 74?182, or online at foldsofhonor.org.

My daughter Madison and Brooke Champagne became wonderful friends at Jenks SE in Kindergarten. I was so blessed meeting Kim at our Parents Meetings. Kim was the Kindest and Most Down to Earth Mother I had ever met. I had the privilege of going to Glenpool to pick up Matty and Brooke after a play date at Champagne Metals. The girls were playing and I had the pleasure of a personal tour of the fairly new plant. Mike proudly walked me around and showed me his current accomplishments and future dreams. He walked me outside of that beautiful building and said would you like to see my Retirement ? I said, Yes Please! He said, do you see that blade of grass North, South, East and West and I said , "Yes , I do" ! Mike said that is my retirement for my children and my grandchildren and so on ! He said, "I love them already and can't wait to meet them"! He was so proud and I was so proud of Kim and Mike in 1999 for their new beginnings and for their exciting prosperous future to share with their children and grandchildren. Mike and Kim, Job Well Done My Children........ Your Kind Generosity to So Many Will Live On as Well as Your Legacy of Being Incredible , Amazing People to so Many.
You and Kim are a Blessing to so many in Tulsa, Beyond and your Beautiful Family !
May The Lord Be With You and Your Beautiful Family ,
Love, Shari and Kent Williams

There are no words that can express how heartbroken we are for your loss. I worked with Michael for years at Jorgensen Steel and then worked for he and Kim at Champagne Metals. More than my employers, I considered them friends. They were amazing people and will be greatly missed.

Brandon, Brooke, Christian, Ashley and the entire extended Champagne family, my heartfelt condolences.

I was lucky enough to spend time with Mike that was not entirely related to the business.

We shared a love of hockey, fine liquor, cigars (and aluminum)!

One occasion comes to mind, he spent 3 days up here in Montreal and we enjoyed our time, taking in an NHL game, watching Alexander Oveckin and the Capitols beat the Habs soundly, talking about his Dad Andre's time playing professional hockey, as well as his brother's love of the game.
At the game he met Gary Gagnon, who's father had actually played hockey with Mike's Dad in Quebec city!! Gary later sent Mike pictures of their Dads together, I think he liked that.

He would text me during the hockey playoffs; "Emile you watching?" and then "I'm probably the only person in OK watching hockey!" It always gave me a chuckle....I will miss him...
