Ronald Steele Obituary

Mr. Ronald Grant Steele, better known by most as Ron or "Ronnie", age 81, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025. He was born on December 20, 1943, in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of the late Robert Grant Steele and Eunice Babb Steele.

Ron Steele's life was one marked by love, faith, and an unshakable spirit of generosity. Born with a servant's heart, Ron stepped into the role of protector and father figure to his sisters at just ten years old after the passing of their father. As the oldest and only boy, he helped his mother raise them, guiding with steady hands, patient wisdom, and a tender heart, but also with a lot of brotherly love, fun and of course aggravation.

Most importantly, Ron was a believer in the Lord. He lived out the grace, mercy, and joy of Jesus in everything he did, touching the lives of all who crossed his path. He loved life deeply, from the quiet beauty of his pond behind the house to the colors of his flowers and garden. He found joy in nature and in the simple act of creating; whether tinkering with tools or building something from scratch, Ron could make anything work, even if it meant learning how along the way.

Ron was the very best father and an even better Paw Paw to his beloved granddaughters, who will forever cherish his compassionate humor and the way he could make anyone laugh. He was the dearest friend and life partner to Ms. Gloria, his loving wife of 61 wonderful years. Together they built a home filled with kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

A teacher at heart, Ron lived with patience, gentleness, and a generosity that knew no limits. He always wore a smile, stayed positive, and found a lesson in every moment, encouraging others to grow, improve, and see the good in every situation.

Professionally, Ron dedicated more than 36 years to Southern Company, serving in the Technology Department until his retirement in 2007. Colleagues affectionately called him "Stainless Steele," a testament to his character, reliability, and the friendships he cultivated over the years.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Gloria Roper Steele; a son, Matthew Grant and Connie Steele; a daughter, Melanie (Steele) and Chris Sosebee; grandchildren, Laura Brook Sosebee and Rachel Meadow Sosebee; sisters, Carol (Ronnie) Brown and Peggy Ayers; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Per Ron's wishes, no formal services will be held, and he will be laid to rest with his parents.
