REV. CLEDITH V. CAMPBELL JR., 71 of Huntington, WV, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at Altizer Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.
He was born September 30, 1952, in Charleston, WV, the son of the late Cledith V. Campbell Sr., and Barbara Hively Campbell. Cledith faithfully served for 50 years as the pastor at Altizer Baptist Church. He served as WVCSB Interim Executive Director, held various positions in the state convention, the Greater Huntington Baptist Association, and as a trustee of the SBC's Christian Life Commission.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Davis Campbell; his 3 children, Christina Campbell, Jonathan Campbell and wife Valerie, and Sara Beth Stacy and husband Trevor, all of Huntington; his brothers and sister, Mike Campbell of Huntington, Paul Campbell and wife Sandra of Barboursville, Robin Campbell of Princeton, WV, and Danny Campbell and wife Margie of Richmond, KY; two grandchildren, Judah and Benjamin Campbell and a little one on the way; one brother-in-law, John Davis of Caryville, TN, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his loving church family, many friends and clergy.
