Edward Ollie Watson Sr.

Edward Ollie Watson Sr. of Ona, WV, passed away Friday, October 18, 2024.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.
He was born on May 10, 1932 in Branchland, WV, a son of the late William and Iva Watson.
He went to Milton High School, worked for the railroad for short time, and went to join the Army but was referred to a new branch called, the Air Force, and earned a Silver Star during his service in South Korea.
Edward got married to his first wife of 25 years Judith Ann Yost Watson, who passed away in 1979.
He became a unionized sheet metal worker and worked for them until his retirement. During that time he had joined the Navy Reserves Seabees and achieved the high rank of Master Chief E-9 with a total of 31 years of service.
He was very proud of his military service. He was a member of Beulah Ann Baptist Church and also was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
He had three children from Judith Ann: David Watson (Andrea) with grandchildren David Watson II (Rachel) of Milton, WV, who have two children, Elliott and Jonah; Dylan Watson (Chelsea) of Windermere, FL and Alivia and Jake who still reside at home; Jessie Lynn Watson Morrison of Texas, Edward Ollie Watson Jr. (Jennie) of Moseley, VA, who had two children: Julie Marie Watson Robinson (Curtis) of Wakefield who had three kids: Madeline, Cooper, Elizabeth; David J. Watson of Los Angeles, CA.
Ed remarried in 1981 to Norma Christine Perry Watson and she remained with him till the time of his passing. Christine grew up in the town of Barboursville and had two daughters from a previous marriage: Amanda (Steve) Dailey of Proctorville, Ohio and Frances Williamson of Chesapeake, Ohio, who gave them two grandchildren Amber (Mason) Pinkerman of Frazier's Bottom and Sara Bellomy (Johnathan) who resides in Okinawa, Japan, who gave him two great-grandchildren, William and Sullivan.
He had a hard life at times, but always pushed through. Working in the hot sun on scaffolding where is so hot you could cook an egg.
He also had a successful sign business, but was encouraged to have a regular job. Worrying about his kids, hoping they would live successful lives, not just financially successful, but spiritually successful (mission accomplished). He really enjoyed retirement!
He loved to travel, and even earned his private pilot license.
