EVA MAYNARD Obituary

EVA JANE DONLEY DeLAWDER MAYNARD left this world on Sunday, March 5, 2017. She was born in Oak Hill, Ohio on August 14, 1955. She is survived by her husband Robert Maynard of Chesapeake, Ohio; daughters Lena Renee DeLawder and Rebecca (Andrew) Linn and four granddaughters, Josey Linn and Kaelyn Linn, all of Waverly, Ohio, and Emiley Linn and Morgan Linn, both of Medina, Tenn.; brother Thomas (Margaret) Donley of Chesapeake, Ohio; several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She is predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Evelyn Donley, sister Bonnie Jones, brother Marlin Donley and her stepson that she adored, Donald H. DeLawder Jr. If you met her, then you met true kindness. If you knew her, then you knew love. She was a devoted wife, a caring sister, a loving mother and a super fun granny who made every day an adventure and always a good memory. An incredible nurse for over 30 years, touching the lives of many, she was a champion for the elderly and our nations veterans through her dedicated years at Bristol Village in Waverly, Ohio and The VA Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. After graduating from Ironton High School, Eva went to Buckeye Hills to earn her Practical Nursing License and later went on to receive her RN, from the University of Rio Grande which has graciously helped to set up a nursing scholarship in her memory. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 9 at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, Ashland, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University Of Rio Grande, Attention: Eva DeLawder Maynard Scholarship. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

Please accept my sincere condolences. May you please find comfort in the powerful words written in the bible for our comfort during these heartbreaking days, and moments. Matthew 5:4 reads.. "Happy are those who mourn since they will be comforted."

What a shock to receive this message this morning. I recall very clearly when Eva Jane was born - just a hop and a skip from my own home as a teenager. Her sister Bonnie and I were very close cousins and we all rejoiced at the the birth of the beautiful new baby girl to Gordon and Evelyn that day. So I'm sending love and hugs with blessings for a lovely young woman who has left us way too early. Cousin Kay Stanley Carter.
