GOLDIE L. BARNES

1928 - 2014

GOLDIE L. BARNES, 86, of Bridgeport, W.Va., passed away on Thursday evening, August 21, 2014 at United Hospital Center. She was born July 14, 1928 in Miletus, W.Va., a daughter of the late John William Vanscoy and Vada Melia Devericks Vanscoy. She was preceded in death by her husband William A. Barnes, Jr. in April of 2000. She is also survived by her many nephews and nieces, David R. Vanscoy Sr. and his wife Brenda of Bridgeport, W.Va., David R. Vanscoy Jr., Amanda Dawn Andrick and her husband Jason, Rebecca Elaine Andrick. Mrs. Barnes was a graduate of Doddridge High School and she was a nurse's aid for St. Mary's Hospital in Clarksburg back in the 1950's. She then moved to Huntington with her husband and she was a 40 year Charter member of the Altizer Baptist Church and also helped build it.
