GRACE EDITH PEMBERTON, 89, of Huntington, West Virginia, died on 02/01/2018 at her residence. Grace was born March 4, 1928, in York, Nebraska, the daughter of Mary and Albert Woodruff. Grace is a retired Internal Revenue Service employee. In 1946, Grace was recruited as a clerk/stenographer by the Department of the Army and began her career working in Washington, D.C., at the age of 18, after the end of World War II. Grace enjoyed working many years at the Pentagon in D.C., where she met her husband, Ivan S. Pemberton, who was working with the United States Air Force. Grace made many lasting friendships and many friends with whom she has kept in touch throughout the years. In l965, Grace and family moved to Huntington, W.Va., where she worked as a Revenue Representative at the Internal Revenue Service. Grace was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandma, great-grandma, great-great-grandma and a friend to all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Ivan Shannon Pemberton; a grandson, Timothy John Pemberton; two infant great-grandchildren, Christian Gregory Pick, Wyatt Eli Pick; brothers, Dwight Albert Woodruff and John Edward Woodruff. Grace is survived by three children: daughter, Fran Marie Mosley (Richard) of Wytheville, Va., sons, Stanley Preston Pemberton (Nancy) of Flower Mound, Texas, and Kenneth Albert Pemberton (Mary) of Huntington, W.Va.; and sister, Mary Alice Naylor from Colorado; grandchildren, James Mosley, Tanya Hardy (John), Heather Pick (Adam), Melissa Pemberton, Thomas Pemberton (Margolee), Chad Pemberton, Kendra Pemberton; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Shane Hardy, Bryson and Lilyana Pick, and Kate Pemberton; great-great-grandson, Logan Federer; special friends, Susan Subik, Auneka (Nikki) Plymale and Alice Browning. Grace is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Huntington, W.Va., for the past 53 years and was involved in many volunteer jobs, St. Ann Circle, Sacred Heart Guild, monthly luncheons, St. Mary's Hospital, Hospice, NARFE, NAUS, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Tri-State Literacy tutor and the YMCA exercise and swimming classes. She enjoyed making clothes, knitting, cross-stitching, golfing, traveling, bowling, duplicate bridge, etc. Grace has traveled all her life through Colorado, Alaska, Hawaii and all remaining states; Cruises; two weeks in the Holy Land, Rome, Italy, Ireland, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, Venice, Aruba, France, Germany, etc. Visitation will be at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home on Feb. 5, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m with Rosary at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted by Rev. Charles J. McGinnis and Rev. Dean G. Borgmeyer, V.F., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Huntington, W.Va., on Feb. 6, 2018, at 10 a.m. Pallbearers will be James Mosley, Thomas Pemberton, Chad Pemberton and Adam Pick. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Rev. Wilbert M. Burke Foundation at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, P.O.
