James Childers Obituary
JAMES DAVID "JIMMY" CHILDERS, 86, of Salt Rock, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. John Gue. Burial will be in Baylous Cemetery. He was born September 4, 1937, in Salt Rock, a son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Ollie Smith Childers. He was preceded in death by one sister, Janetta Skidmore and one granddaughter, Sarah Nicole Faulkner. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Fern Ross Childers; two daughters, Charlotte Lynne Childers of Huntington and Katrina Childers Miller of Barboursville; two sons, David Childers (Shannon) of Salt Rock and Mark (Lori) Childers of Ona; one brother, Jack (Millie) Childers of Huntington; eight grandchildren, Chris Faulkner, Samantha Janney (Brett), Ashley Betz (Kevin) of Virginia Beach, Va., Tiffany Odell (David), Leah Deschambault, Gabrielle Childers, Andrew Childers, and Chase Childers; and four great-grandchildren, Jackson Betz, Isabella Janney, Izaya Smith and Mackenzie Oakes. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.
