Janet Sue Neal

JANET SUE (THOMPSON) NEAL, 81, of Ironton, Ohio passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 15, 2025. She was born January 10, 1944 in San Joaquin, CA to her late parents; Paul E. Thompson and Lula Kimble Mayo. She was also preceded in death by her husband; Leonard R. Neal.
Janet was a 1962 graduate of Rock Hill High School. Janet and Leonard were high school sweethearts and married in 1963. She attended both Elm St. and Ironton City Mission Churches. She was a former employee of Tipton's Bakery, Ironton Shopwise and Rax restaurant.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother; Charles Thompson and two sisters; Mildred Pauley and Vicki Benton.
Survivors include her children; Melissa (Chris) Schneider of South Point and Leonard "JR" (Melissa) Neal, Jr. of Ironton, her grandchildren; Kacie (David) McIntosh, Leonard "Tre" (Maddie) Neal, III, Wesley Neal, Addison Neal, Branden Neal and Aubrey Neal, great-granddaughter; Kira Maddy, brother-in-law; Tim Pauley, sisters-in-law; Azalie Thompson and Katherine McClaskey and best friends; Maryann McEvoy and Patty Martin.
She is now reunited with her beloved dog, Rusty, who brought her joy and comfort for many years.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Friday, December 19, 2025 at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. 7th St., Ironton, OH with Bishop Ryan Schneider officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery.
