Larry Rees Obituary
LARRY DUNCAN REES, 77, of Huntington, WV, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Sunday, January 11th, with Monsignor Borgmeyer officiating. Visitations will start at 2 p.m., funeral will begin at 3 p.m. There will be gathering at Creekside Golf Course beginning at 4:30 p.m., food and Larry's signature drink will be served. All are welcome to attend.
Larry was born March 14, 1948, in Williamson, WV, a son of the late Don Rees and Catherine (Gould) Rees Kibbee. Throughout the years, Larry worked at ACF, taught photography at Marshall, Ohio University Southern, Cabell County Vo-Tech and the Huntington Museum of Art. He was a well-known and highly sought after photographer. He also took pictures for the Ironton Tribune and Stroll Magazine. Larry was a DIY connoisseur who could fix anything.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother Charles Donald Rees II. Survivors include: wife of 54 years, Sharon Rees; son Donald (Jessica) Rees; daughter Megan (Nick) Catalogna; grandchildren, Gabrielle and Isabel Catalogna; Kayle and Ty Watts, fur grandbabies Nash, Nugget, and Lucy Rees; great-granddaughter, Iris Catalogna; nieces, Pamela Cohen, Beth Crutchley and his Advanced Photography Family.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Huntington Museum of Art in honor of Larry.

Several years ago, I took a photography class taught by Larry. He was a very good teacher, and I used the skills I learned in my work at school as the photographer and sponsor for the yearbook. At the time, he worked in downtown Huntington , and he was always happy to help with photography questions and questions about cameras and equipment. I still use some of the skills I learned in his class. He was a very nice person and an excellent photographer.
