Martha Powers Obituary
MARTHA "MARTY" ALICE VALENTINE POWERS of Milton passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, after a short illness. She was born in Hurricane, W.Va., on September 26, 1958, the daughter of E.E. "Boots" and Virginia M. Valentine. She graduated from Hurricane High School in 1976. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Gary L. Powers, her beloved dog, Dolly and ex-husbands Andrew Earles, Sam McCormick and David McCracken. She is survived by her sister, Victoria Valentine, her surrogate daughters, Lori Thompson and Tracey Davis, her stepdaughter, Amanda Davis; stepson, Matt Powers and fur babies, Salem and Punkin. Marty was a Certified Picture Framer and owned and operated The Country Framer for 30 years. She loved her customers, and they loved her. She did quality work which hangs in many homes and businesses throughout the area. Marty was a long-time member of Milton Chapter 149, Order of the Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron at the time of her death. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Help for Animals, 1 Humane Way; Barboursville, WV 25504. A memorial service to honor Marty's life will be held at 6 p.m. September 27, 2024, at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service. How did I miss this service? I thought it said a later date and I e been watching for it. I feel so bad. Marty was a true jewel. I was one of her first customers and helped her liquidate when she moved out of the big house. So very sorry

My home is full of Marty´s beautiful handiwork. She was a wonderful friend to both me & my husband. I miss her terrible already. She graduated with my husband. We shared a love for birds.

She put some beautiful frames together for me over the years. In June she framed a picture for me that she made so pretty. Her life lives on through the many people she brought joy to through her art work.

Marty framed numerous cross stitch pictures my mother and I made over the years. They hang in the homes of our loved ones and mine. Marty was the best! She always welcomed us with her sweet smile and lovely personality. I will forever remember Marty and her perfection in the way she honored her customers. Love and prayers for her family!! Sue Taylor
