Matthew Stephen "Matt" Pinson

MATTHEW "MATT" STEPHEN PINSON, born April 24, 1965, son of Clyde and Betty Jo Pinson, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, passed away December 5, 2025 at home after a long courageous battle. Matt grew up in Huntington, W.V. and attended Miller Elementary, Cammack, St. Joe, Reception Virginia Episcopal School, Huntington High and Marshall University.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and his two sisters, Carolyn and Liz. He is survived by his wife Cindy and sons, Zane, Zeb, and Zander, and daughter Niza. He is also survived by three brothers, Mike and Mary Pinson of Harker Heights, Texas; Pat and Mandi Pinson of Portland, Oregon; Mark and Ruth Pinson of Huntington.
Matt's passion in life, besides his family, was centered in two main areas. First, he loved being involved in local politics. He started out as a young Republican in West Virginia in the 1980's and was instrumental in bringing the National Young Republicans to Charleston, W.V. for their National Convention. He was a delegate to the National Convention of the Republican party and attended the convention several times himself. He was also a regular at many City Council meetings in Huntington. Most recently, he served as Chairman of the Republican party in Cabell County.
His second passion was soccer. He coached several youth teams with the YMCA league, as well as teams at the AAU level. He dedicated years of his time helping grow soccer in the Huntington area. He also continued to play soccer in the Senior league up until age 50.
Matt's cheerful spirit and giving heart will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Huntington Saturday December 13,2025 . Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. A private entombment will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park.
