PAUL EDWIN MILLER, 77, of
Huntington, WV passed away, Friday, November 28, 2025, after a short but courageous battle with cancer at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House,
Huntington, WV.
He was born February 2, 1948, in
Logan, WV, the son of the late Hubert Ray and Doris Smith Miller. Paul grew up and spent most of his life in
Hamlin, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Verona Gail Miller and an infant brother, Robert Ray Miller.
He was a graduate of Hamlin High School (Class of 1966), where he excelled in both football and basketball. Paul proudly served in the US Army Reserves while working his way through school, earning his B.S. in Business with specialization in Accounting. He worked in the Land Dept., at Columbia Gas, later becoming Columbia Natural Resources, in Charleston WV. What began simply as a temporary job for CNR prepping sites for gas and oil locations, ending up sparking a love for the outdoors & a lifelong career in land surveying.
After getting his Professional Land Surveyor's license, he worked his way up to being the Director of Land Services at CNR and was employed there for 25 years. He then left Columbia to open his own land surveying business in Huntington WV, True Line Surveying, Inc. He owned and operated his company employing several dedicated men for almost 30 years, again serving the Oil and Gas Companies, setting well locations as well as doing boundary surveys. He also served on the WV Board of Surveyors for many years.
He was a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church where he also led a Life Group, Iron Sharpeners. He loved reading the Bible, fishing, golfing and the Cincinnati Reds. Paul's greatest passion was his deep love for his family and grandbabies. He cherished being a full-time Pawpaw and was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-one-years, Karen Otto Miller of
Huntington, WV. two children, Abigail Grace Ray (Austin) of Hurricane, WV and Benjamin Paul Miller (Madison Hylton, fiancé) of
Huntington, WV; two grandchildren, Theoden Drake Ray and Violet Elowyn Ray. He is also survived by two daughters from a previous marriage Keli Thompson of Portland, TN and Summer Miller of Proctorville, OH along with four grandchildren, Makenzie, Zoey, Tanner and Cayson. Paul is also survived by two cousins he grew up with and dearly loved, Carol Roark of Bristol, TN and Sharon Pridemore of Hickory, NC. and a host of friends and family.
A special thank you for the wonderful care from the nurses on the Oncology Floor at St Mary's Medical Hospital as well as the nurses in St Mary's Infusion Center.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary and Cremation Services,
Huntington, WV. Pastor David Lemming and Keith Matheny officiated. Burial took place in Oaklawn Cemetery,
Huntington, WV.
