PHILIP V. FAUST JR., 94, of Proctorville, Ohio, went to his heavenly reward and into the arms of Jesus on October 28, 2025, at Harbor Healthcare of Ironton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip V. Faust Sr. and Mabel Faust; his brother Charles Faust; his loving wife of 58 years Vera Alice Faust; and his precious son, Stephen Sanford Faust. Phil leaves behind two cherished daughters whom he loved dearly, Mary Alice McCloskey and Ruth Aleigh Faust; three grandchildren, Mary McCloskey, Rachel McCloskey, and Sarah McCloskey; seven great-grandchildren, Vera, Derrick, Lily, Sarah, Layla, Lydia, and Lukah; along with a host of extended family and friends.
Phil attended Kentucky Christian College, where he met the love of his life, Vera Alice. Upon graduation, he entered full-time ministry and faithfully served churches across Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee for more than 70 years. His passion was helping small congregations grow strong Biblical foundations and preparing Christians for service and leadership. Throughout his ministry, he was actively involved in Christian camps and evangelistic efforts, including the KYOWVA Evangelistic Association, and worked with various ministries dedicated to spreading the Gospel.
Even during his final months in a nursing facility, Phil continued writing sermons and sharing his faith with others. His life was devoted to shining the light of Christ and leading others to salvation. In addition to ministry, Phil held several secular positions, including accounting, teaching at the collegiate level, and bookkeeping for the Boy Scouts of America.
No matter where he worked, he allowed God's love and character to shine through him. Phil never met a stranger. He greeted everyone with a warm smile, a handshake, and a joke his favorite way to open a door to witness and share the love of Christ. To know him was truly to love him. His unwavering faith and joyful spirit were evident in the life he lived every day.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Harbor Healthcare of Ironton and Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care during Phil's final months. They are also deeply grateful for the many prayers, visits, and kind expressions of love and support offered on their behalf.
