RAYMOND WEAVER Obituary

RAYMOND WEAVER was received into the arms of his Savior May 1, 2018. He experienced the joy of life close to 79 years. Ray was born June 16, 1939, in Ona, West Virginia, to the late Virgil Lee Weaver and Agnes Lewis Weaver. Surviving is his devoted wife of 58 years, Linda Midkiff Weaver, and their children, Gregory Weaver (Johana), Daria Rupe (Scott) and Cammy Radosevich (Eric). He drew great pride and pleasure from his grandchildren and great-grandchild, Nick (Emily), Logan, Clayton, Sydney, Levi, Jonah, Easton, Sam, Gus, Jaxon and Madelyn. He is also survived by one brother, Richard Weaver of Kerrville, Texas. Ray tirelessly and faithfully served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years and as a classroom teacher in Virginia Beach Schools for 12 years. He was active in his community and had many friends due to his quick wit and sense of humor. He graduated from Milton High School, attended Marshall University and graduated from Old Dominion University. He taught Physics for the United States Navy at Dam Neck, Virginia. Ray traveled extensively, living in England for 4 years. He was a Renaissance Man, loved hunting, fishing, puzzles and learning new things. No services are scheduled, at his request. A memorial service will be held at a future date for family and friends. Condolences or shared stories and memories may be expressed through the Wallace Funeral Home in Milton at www.timeformemory.com/wallace. Ray would give thanks to all he met for the kindnesses given to him over the years. He would want you to take every opportunity to embrace and support his loved ones. Please, no flowers; give to your favorite charity in his name.

We often say someone was really special, and Ray truly was. He was so friendly, and he quickly became a big presence in any group of people. His quick wit made us laugh so many times, and he will be sorely missed, not just by my wonderful friend, Linda, but by his family and those of us who got to work with him and by others who knew him. God bless you, Ray, and I pray that Linda will find some solace in her bereavement. My sincere condolences to the family.

I just received the sad news of Ray's passing. Ray and I spent many days and nights fishing, hunting and camping as kids while growing up. My condolences to his wonderful wife, Linda and to the many member's of their family. So long ole friend.

I just found out that Raymond L. Weaver, GMTC, USN Ret. has passed away. I had the honor to serve with "Weav" on USS John F Kennedy in 1977. I met him as a wet behind the ears GMT3. He took me under his wing and taught me as only Ray could how to be a real leader, technician and sailor. He was and will always be my Sea Daddy, my mentor, my friend. Robyn and my thoughts and prayers are with Linda and her family. Fair winds and following seas Ray.
