Robert Allen Obituary
July 17, 1946 - December 9, 2025 Nicholasville, Kentucky ROBERT "BOB" JOSEPH ALLEN, 79, husband of Dawn Bridgeman Allen, passed on December 9, 2025, in Nicholasville, KY.
He was born July 17, 1946, in Port Huron, MI. Bob lived in Huntington, WV, and Russell, KY, before retiring from the Ashland Oil Treasury Dept. Upon retirement, he and Dawn moved to Nicholasville, KY. He was a graduate of Marshall University and earned a MBA from Morehead State University. Bob was a standout basketball player for Marshall from 1964-1968. He played for the San Francisco Warriors in the NBA from 1968-1969. He was inducted into the Marshall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003.
He is survived by his wife Dawn; son Robert "Rob" J. Allen II; daughter, Julie (Mitch) Poole; and 4 grandchildren who affectionately called him "Grumps"; R.J. Adam Allen III, Matthew Allen, Stone (Olivia) Poole, and Drake Poole.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Saddened to read of Bob's passing. I had the pleasure to know and work with Bob at Ashland Oil in the late 70's-early 80's and earlier as a kid in Huntington watching his expert play in Basketball along with George Stone, Bob Redd, Danny D'Antoni and Jim Davidson under legendary Coach Ellis Johnson at many SRO MU Basketball games at the Old Huntington Memorial Field House . Bob was big in stature and big people skills . It was an honor to have known him. My condolences to his family during this difficult time.
