Robert Chafin Obituary

JUDGE ROBERT GORDON CHAFIN, 89, of Ceredo, WV, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of Ceredo, of which he was a member, with Pastor Jeffrey Canterbury officiating.
Bob was born August 27, 1935 in Kenova, WV, a son of the late Dorsey Bevin and Shirley Messer Chafin.
He was a graduate of Buffalo High School, Marshall University and West Virginia University Law School. He was a former Prosecuting Attorney and Circuit Judge of Wayne County. Bob was a veteran having served in the U S Army and was an avid golfer and enjoyed every chance to play.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Lafe C. Chafin and two sisters Doris Chafin Chun-Ming and Chloenette Chafin Amos.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years Alfredia Christian Chafin; cherished son R. Bevin Chafin; grandson Lyle Chafin and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service, Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church. Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova is in charge of arrangements.
