RUTH MADELINE STANLEY

RUTH MADELINE STANLEY, 86, of Spencer, W.Va., formerly of Huntington, passed away on June 6, 2016, at the Miletree Health Care Center in Spencer where she had been a resident for the last five years. Born October 12, 1929, in Huntington, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Poston and Flossie Holley. Ruth worked in the Baltimore Shipyards as a riveter in WWII and then worked as a waitress after the war. She later became a real estate agent and finally, retired as a Public Health worker in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Ruth was a member of the "I AM Church" in Huntington and in her free time, she loved playing golf and going to the theater. Above all, Ruth was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son, Phillip Toms of San Antonio, Texas; her siblings Grant, Kenneth, Willford, David, Dorothy, Sharron Kay, Wonda and Sherlie; her grandchildren Christine, Roderick and Phillip "PJ" and her great-grandchildren Brian and Indiana. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Enzil Lee, Cecil Jr. "Pape," Charlotte, Vick, Aldine and Goldie May. Funeral services will be held for Ruth at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Ron Burnsworth, officiating. She will be laid to rest at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville. The family will welcome friends one hour prior to services.
