VIOLET LEONA CHAMBERLAIN

1931 - 2014

VIOLET LEONA CHAMBERLAIN, 82, of Huntington, a precious mom and now guardian angel to four children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandson, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014. Born May 20, 1931, Violet was the daughter of the late James and Delta Poe. Violet was an avid Bingo player and sports fan. She especially enjoyed the Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, and any activities in which her grandchildren participated. Violet also enjoyed cooking, and was known for her German chocolate cake. She shared her culinary skills during her career as the head cook at Midway Elementary for many years. In addition to her parents, Violet is preceded in death by her husband Darnley Chamberlain Sr. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Linda Doniece Blair and husband Dennis of Beckley, W.Va.; Darnley "Don" Chamberlain Jr. and wife Martha of Murray, Ky.; Tammy McKinney and husband Jerry of Beckley, W.Va.; Wanda Chamberlain Dyke of Huntington; Grandchildren, Lee Blair and wife Shannon of Martinsburg, W.Va.; Lindsay Chamberlain of Wilmington, N.C.; Mark Chamberlain of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Derek McKinney and wife Caitlyn of Huntington; G. Austin McKinney of Beckley, W.Va.; Sarah Elizabeth Dyke of Huntington; Great-grandson, Jonah Hugh McKinney; Brother, Billy "Bud" Poe and wife Jean of Princeton; and many nieces and nephews. The Chamberlain family would like to express their gratitude to the SICU doctors and nursing staff at Cabell Huntington Hospital as well as special thanks to Dr. Charles Meadows, Violet's family physician. The family would also like to thank Brenda and many other friends in Huntington for their kindness and thoughtfulness. Services will be held Monday, March 10, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Williams Blue Ridge Chapel in Sophia, W.Va. Friends may gather with the family from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
