Mrs. Karnas was born in Decatur, Ill. on June 14, 1923, daughter of Peter G. and Anthe Bacopulos. After graduating from Stephen Decatur High School and working at the Princess Confectionery and as a secretary for a lawyer, she met and married William P. Karnas in 1946. As a couple they were both active members of the Greek Orthodox Church, where she served for many years on St. Catherines Philotohos Society. Anita loved to knit and she spent many years in retail working for the Ball of Yarn Shop. She and Dad loved to bowl and were in many bowling leagues, singles and couples. She was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Her happiest memories were of a house full of family, her sisters and brother and their spouses and all the cousins having fun for the holidays. After her husband's death in 1992, she relocated to be near her daughter in Las Vegas, Nevada. Since 2006 she has resided at Sterling Court, an Active Senior Complex located in St. George Utah. She had many friends wherever she lived and will be missed by all for her humor, her honesty and her compassion for a full life. Surviving are her daughters and son-in-laws, Penny Thompson and husband Joseph of Decatur, Anthea Newman and husband William of Hurricane, Utah, Sister, Mrs. Nick (Kristine) Futris of Memphis Tennessee, two grandchildren, Brian Thompson and Nicole Genet and beloved great grandchildren Micheal, Madeline, Lily, Joseph, and Victoria. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Mary Farmakis and Bessie Kareotes and one brother Gregory P. Bacopulos.
