SHELBYVILLE - Beverly Jean Parton Spencer, 89, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL. A graveside service will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville, IL, with Gary Crowder officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Food Pantry at First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville.
Beverly was born June 14, 1934, at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Lester and Delphia Parton. She attended school at Du Quoin and Benton, IL, graduating from Benton High School and then attended Missouri Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO.
She married Lloyd Spencer on Easter Sunday, April 10, 1955. They were married 53 years and had one daughter, Beth Ann Spencer.
Beverly retired from the Shelbyville Public Schools the same year her husband Lloyd Spencer retired from the Illinois State Police. Together they enjoyed traveling all over the U.S., long bike rides and hikes, movies, concerts, and attending Cardinal baseball games and MIZZOU football games.
She is survived by her daughter Beth of Decatur, IL; brother-in-law, Gail Spencer and wife, Barbara, of Mulkeytown, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd on November 26, 2008; her parents; sister, Lillian Storey; and niece, Angela Dee Storey.
