Carol A. Barnes

April 18, 1950 - September 22, 2025

Carol A Barnes, 75, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at home after a prolonged battle with cancer.

She was born April 18, 1950, in Decatur, Ill. to James and Georganna Bailey. She attended Decatur Public Schools and graduated from MacArthur High School. She attended Illinois State University. After 35 years of service, she retired from WAND-TV.

She loved volunteering and did so at St. Mary's Hospital and Coats for Kids and many others close to her heart.

She enjoyed travel, especially to Italy, games, antiques, history, genealogy and remodeling.

In 2008, she married Ted Barnes who preceded her in death. She leaves behind her son, Michael Thomas (Bunny); sister, Jane Ryan, and brother, Jim Bailey (Teri); nieces, Jill Ryan, Julie Wright, Chrissy Havens, Cathy Burich, Jackie German, Lisa Calmes, Kim Grimmett; and many great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Mario R. Velasco Jr, MD, FACP and Christel G. Wheeler, DNP, FNP-BC as we and all the amazing nurses and staff for the wonderful care at Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois, Decatur.

There will be a private graveside service.

Memorials can be made in Carol's honor to: Cancer Care Specialists of IL, Northeast Community Fund.
