Donald Long Obituary

DECATUR - Donald P. "Don" Long, 71, of Decatur, died Thursday, July 29, 2011, at Aspen Ridge Care Center. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 4, at Life Resurrection Church, 1085 W. McKinley Ave., Decatur. Don was born March 13, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Clell P. and Dorothy E. (Robison) Long. He married Judith Anne Satterlee December 24, 1990, in Decatur, IL. Don worked as an electrician for Phil Flaugher Electric. He had also worked at Fairbanks Scales in Decatur and had worked in car shops in Michigan. Don was a U.S. Navy veteran and past commander of Amvets. Don is survived by his wife Judith of Decatur; children: Mike (Renee) Long of Bloomington; daughter Penny (Ron) Morris of Decatur; Robin (Tom) Boils of Decatur; Amy (Donnie) Grindley of Farmer City; stepsons: George (Kim) Matherly of Argenta; Jimmy Matherly of Decatur; brothers and sisters: Richard (Arline) Long of Parrott, GA; Barbara Joseph of Ionia, MI; Peggy (John) Kniat of Saginaw, MI; ten grandchildren; he also leaves behind his loving pets, "Molly" and "Tinker." He was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to thank Dr. DiMondo and Dr. Velasco for the care given to Don during his journey. Memorials may be made to V.F.W. Post #99.   Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements. Condolences may be left to the family at www.brintlingerandearl.com. Obituary written by family members. Dear Long Family.
I just read of Dons passing and I wanted you to know I am very sorry for your loss.
I worked with him at Flaugher Elec.
WE always had good times. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
