Eugene A. "Gene" Garver, 77, of Decatur, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on July 9, 2025.
A service to celebrate Gene's life will be August 23, 2025, at Central Christian Church. Memorials in Gene's honor may be made to Central Christian Church.
Gene was born February 12, 1948, in Decatur, the son of Edward L. and Elsie M. (Henderson) Garver. He married Sandra K. Howell on December 20, 1969, in Decatur. Gene proudly served our country in the National Guard. He co-owned and operated Garver Feeds along with his brother. Family, friends, home, and Garver Feeds were the joys of his life. Gene was a long-time, dedicated member of Central Christian Church, serving in many leadership roles over the years. He served as a trustee for Hickory Point Township for many years. Gene enjoyed trap and skeet shooting and was a member of Warrensburg Gun Club.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Sandy; sons: Brett Garver of Auburn, Wash. and Shane (Amber) Garver of Decatur; grandchildren: Sara (Jonah) McCleary, Jordyn (Aaron) Gronewold, Peyton Garver, Paige Garver and Corbin Garver; great-grandchildren: Olivia, Luke, and Sophia Gronewold; brother, Larry Garver; and sister, Judy Anderson.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents.

Eugene was one of the nicest men we ever dealt with! He was like sunshine when you walked into the store and he there to. help every step of the way. He was a model of how someone should run a business! Thank you for the years and the memories of Garver feed! We will miss that smile of sunshine!

Gene was the leader of our Deacon team at church. He was so welcoming each Sunday that we served. More recently Gene helped me walk into church on Sun. He was a wonderful person.
