Freda Faye Yocom

WESTERVELT - Freda Faye Yocom, 94, of Springfield (formerly of Westervelt) went home to be with her Lord and Savior April 11 at 8:15PM at Lewis Memorial Christian Village, Springfield, IL. She was born Dec. 6th, 1917, in Casey, IL the daughter of Isaac Ellis and Minnie Tague Ratts. She married Richard Yocom on Nov. 20th, 1933 in Decatur, IL. He died on Apr. 10th, 1994 after 61 years of marriage. Surviving are two special nephews, Michael (Pam) Ratts of Springfield and the Rev. Richard (Nancy) Ratts of Forsyth; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. Freda was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; three brothers, Ralph, Riley, and Eugene Ratts; and six sisters, Stella Finney, Cecil Mumford, Marie Early, Pauline Chaney, Sylvia White, and Ruby Palmer. Mrs. Yocom was a longtime member of First Baptist Church; Shelbyville, IL where she taught Sunday school classes for high school girls for many years. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville. Officiating will be Rev. Dan Eloe of First Baptist Church of Shelbyville, IL and Rev. Richard Ratts of Forsyth Baptist Church, Forsyth, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.
