Hazel Dawson Obituary

DECATUR - Hazel Mae Dawson departed this life on Thursday, February 9, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital at the age of 64. She was born on May 10, 1947, in Marion, Arkansas, the daughter of Joe Wesley and Ida (Smith) Dawson. She attended Stephen Decatur High and later obtained her GED. She attended Richland Community College. Hazel worked at the Macon County jail for a few years and moved on to be a homemaker for Complete Care where she was employed until her death. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading the bible and doting on her family, who always knew that she loved them. Most importantly, she united with Love Fellowship Christian Church. She will always live in the hearts of her children: Tracie Dawson, Galen (Shelly) Dawson, Kimberly (Eldridge) Dawson, Melody (Anthony) Ewing, Shamar Dawson, Latoya (Tokilan) Dawson, Stefan (Mia) Dawson,and Ikelli (Scarlet) Dawson, all of Decatur, IL.; brothers: Ernie (Mary) Dawson, Willie (Stephanie) Dawson, Albert Dawson, and Michael (Alberta) Dawson, all of Decatur, IL.; sisters: Sherry Dawson of Ohio and Antionette Dawson of Decatur; 32 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special daughters: Shelita Strong, Dachay Winters, Susan Dawson, Kim McCarroll and Aniko Harris. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; one great granddaughter, Zyliyah Reed; five sisters: Elvelyn, Jessie, Linda, Betty(BJ) Dawson and Ernestine Dawson Wilder; and three brothers: Tommy, David and Charles (CJ) Dawson. Services celebrating her life will be held 12:00 Noon Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Life Changers Church. Visitation two hours before service at the church. Burial: Greenwood Cemetery. I sit and watch my phone at times thinking you are going to call and ask what you cook or go get me a paper LOL..how I wish I could hear those words again..our family has came closer with your passing was this a sign that you were trying to tell us on earth???
