NIANTIC - Herschel O. Brock, 79, #4 Country Club Place, Bloomington, Illinois, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005, as a result of a plane accident in Tombstone, AZ. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday (May 5, 2005) at the First Christian Church, Bloomington, IL., where Masonic Rites will be conducted. The family will greet friends at a reception following the service at Hawthorne Suites in Bloomington, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 2580 Federal Dr.Suite 403, Decatur, Illinois 62526. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, are handling the arrangements. Herschel was born February 2, 1926, in Niantic, the son of Hillery and Catharine (Parks) Brock. He married Esther Lyon in Illiopolis . Mr. Brock was a farmer in the Illiopolis area; He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bloomington. IL.. Past President of Brock Oil Company in Bloomington; President of Brock Development Hotels in Bloomington and Tucson, Arizona; WWII Army Air Corp veteran; life member of Masonic Summit Lodge #431, Scottish Rite, Mohammed Temple, Peoria, IL.; Past President of Shrine Motor Patrol; Past Director CT 40 Royal Order of Jesters; Past National President Kachina Club, member of Sobib; Past Director Bank of Illinois; Past Director Illinois Petroleum Marketers Association and was a member of The Bloomington Country Club.He was also a member of the Normal Rotary Club. He is survived by his wife Esther; sons Jeffrey (Anita) of Bloomington, Gregory (Alice) of Decatur; grandsons Kyle of Champaign, Parker of Chicago, Joel of Terre Haute, IN, Tyler of Bloomington, IN; step granddaughters Erica of Charlotte, NC, Michelle of Decatur; sister Betty Scott of Bethany; brothers Roger of Tucson, Arizona, Robert of Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Carl. He leaves behind friends all over the world to numerous to count, and a truly unique zest for living and a personality to match.
