DECATUR - Joy Ann Smith, 92, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 12:40 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2024, in Hickory Point Christian Village.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Decatur. Calvert & Wikoff Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joy was born December 2, 1931, in Taylorville, IL, the only daughter of Waldo and Ann (Nash) Smith. She graduated from Millikin University and for a short time taught grade school before marrying Bob and starting a family. Joy was a devoted wife and mother to her sons: Greg and Steve. She loved the Lord and was a proud member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Joy enjoyed antiquing, going to car shows with her husband, spending winters in Deland, FL, and attending her grandchildren's activities. She married Robert L. Smith on June 26, 1955. He preceded her in death on September 8, 2011.
Surviving is her son, Gregory W. Smith of Modesto, CA; daughter-in-law, Mindy Dawson of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren: Tucker Smith and Halle Smith, both of Scottsdale, AZ.
Joy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her son, Steve.

Joy was a very special lady. She was like a second mother to me. She will be deeply missed. She is now rejoicing in Heaven with those who went before her.
