December 12, 1938 - November 10, 2025

Joyce Ames, 86, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away at 3:07 a.m., Monday, November 10, 2025, in Aspen Creek of Sullivan, IL.

A graveside service will be held to honor Joyce's life at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 17, 2025, at the Mt. Zion Township Cemetery, Mt. Zion, IL. Calvert & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with services. Memorials may be made in Joyce's memory c/o St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at Calvertmemorial.com.

Joyce was born December 12, 1938, in Decatur, IL the daughter of Edward C. and Edna Mae (Hudson) Sullivan. She married Ronald G. Ames on October 26, 1957. They celebrated sixty-four years of marriage until his passing on November 1, 2021. Joyce had formerly worked as an Executive Secretary for Kemper Insurance Company in Decatur. She had been a member of the Four J's singing group. She was an avid quilter and had been a member of the Cottage Quilters. She enjoyed teaching others about quilting and was a member of the Decatur Quilters Guild. Joyce had won many awards for her quilts at the Rock Home Gardens Quilt Shows.

Surviving are her sons: Mark Ames (Jo) of Decatur, Kevin Ames (Julie) of Casner, IL and David Ames (Jennifer) of Ann Arbor, MI; daughter: Tina Peters (Frank) of Orange Park, FL; brother William Sullivan of Virginia; and sister: Linda Sue Workman (Ted) of Decatur; grandchildren: Derek Ames (Samantha) of Decatur, Jessica (Ames) O'Hagan (Ciaran) of Dublin, Ireland, and Whitley (Ames) Kasey (Landon) of Indianapolis, IN.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband and her sister, Dixie Rucker.
