Maurice Reeter Obituary

CLINTON - Maurice Freeland "Mousey" Reeter, 78, of Clinton died 5:25 p.m. Thursday (April 21, 2005) in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson and Ernie Harvey Jr. officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Private burial will be at a later date in Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton. Memorials: Little Galilee Christian Assembly or First Christian Church, Clinton. Mr. Reeter was born Dec. 25, 1926, in Lake City, Moultrie County, the son of William W. Reeter and Mayme Freeland. He retired from farming and Caterpillar Inc. He farmed 22 years on the family farm in Moultrie County. He was a member of Moultrie County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, bowling and was an avid Cardinals fan. He was named horseshoe pitching champion. He was affiliated with First Christian Church. He was a Navy veteran. He married Joan Ray on Dec. 31, 1949, in Meredosia. She passed away April 18, 1997. He later married Peggy E. Schmidt on May 26, 1973, in Clinton. Surviving are his wife, Peggy; children, Randy (Sue) Reeter and their children, Mark, Laura and Sarah, all of Mount Pulaski; William R. Reeter and his son William M. Reeter, both of Clinton; Anita (Francis) Brady of Clinton and their children Jeremy Nash of Bloomington and Jennifer Brady of Decatur; Rhonda (Terry) Hammer of Clinton; great-grandson, Hayden Decker of Decatur; brother, Gene Errol (Marcia) Reeter of Dalton City; sister, Lynette Gibbs of Arroyo Grande, Calif.
