Tom L. Pritts, 85, of Decatur, IL passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
Tom was born on June 27, 1940 in Decatur, IL, the son of Theral and Talvia (Esry) Pritts. Tom served proudly in the National Guard. He married Phyllis Ann Hedges on August 24, 1963. She preceded him in death on February 10, 2008. He later married Sandra Aukamp on May 1, 2010. Tom retired from AE Staley/Tate & Lyle in 2002 after 37 years of service. His post-retirement job was with Ripples Auto Body in Mt. Zion.
Tom was a member of New Day Community Church. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed taking his 1970 Plymouth Duster to hundreds of car shows. Tom was particularly proud of his involvement with the SHED program at New Day. He enjoyed repairing antique clocks, a hobby passed down from his father. He loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Tom was a kind and generous man, a practical joker. He never met a stranger. He could start a conversation with anyone.
Tom is survived by his wife: Sandra Pritts of Decatur, IL; children: Diane (Randall) Johnston of St. Charles, MO, Todd (Kimberly) Pritts of Cedar Rapids, IA, Scott (Salli) Pritts of Macon, IL; bonus children: Jeff (Brenda) Price of Springfield, IL, Brad (Susie) Price of Hartselle, AL, Pam (Brian) Hoffer of Scottsdale, AZ and Doug (Lisa) Price of Aledo, IL; grandchildren: Jordan (Ben) Nolte, Julie Johnston, Mitchell (Lexi) Pritts, Paige Pritts, Maggie Pritts, Charlotte Pritts and Matthew Pritts; bonus grandchildren: Jacob (Elaina) Price, Jenna Price, Riley Hoffer, Tatum Hoffer, Noah Price, Ethan (Samantha) Price and Emerson Price; brother: David Pritts of Decatur, IL; brother-in-law: Russell (Marsha) Hedges of Macon, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Phyllis.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff at DMH, staff at Hickory Point Christian Village and Dr. Estrada-Garcia and her staff at Cancer Care Center of Decatur along with the Infusion Department for their expert and compassionate care.
A service to honor Tom's life will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at New Day Community Church. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday at the church. Tom will be laid to rest in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to New Day Community Church.
